My blog runs on Wordpress. I like to play with my blog template. I am not a tech savvy guy like you but I love to customise my blog and add new features just like this blog. I will like to know how to check if I am logged in or not and show the status in the sidebar like in this blog. My blog is hosted at Blogsome.

Hi Prashant and welcome to the WebTips community. You need not be a ‘tech savvy guy’ guy to continue your blogging efforts. But you know some basic things. Ok heres the tip you asked for ..

Login to your blog cpanel and go to Manage and then to Files The file you see (index.html) is the main template and this is where you operate the whole look and feel of your blog. Inside body tag just add this smarty code:

{capture name=islogin}{wp_loginout}{/capture}
{if $smarty.capture.islogin|strip_tags:'0' == "Logout"}
Logout link (/wp-login.php?action=logout)
{else}
Login link (/wp-login.php)
{/if}

From now on if you are logged in to your blog you will see the ‘logout’ link and vice versa (just like the one at the top nav bar of this site). Save your work and see the result :) Let us know if you have any further queries.

I have a blog where I use many swf files as per my requirement. But I have a problem which I think am not able to figure out. I host these files at a free file hosting company which recently reported that there has been a excess usage of bandwidth. And so they have temporarily closed my account. I dont think it happened cuz of my blog alone as I dont get so much visitors per day. Can you suggest me how to monitor the usage of these swf files and catch the stealers.

I recently developed a flash game and placed it in my website. But am not able to see how many visitors are actually playing it. Also many website and blog owners have stolen the swf file and hosted it in their own site without permission. Please tell me how to keep track of the flash file and also monitor the popularity.

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever” - John Keats

Every graphic designer wish to create something which will compel the viewer to get the utmost joy and satisfaction as also to remember the work forever. Almost every web designer use Abode Photoshop to create their works and most of us tend to look for some additional resources apart from the default ones for more creativity and fun. Today while surfing the internet for some of additional brushes I discovered this site and was amazed to see the collection of brushes. I downloaded a few of them and they were really nice. I really liked these Oriental Brushes collection. They are all for free and you can download them for your personal usage. Start downloading them and have fun creating logos, headers, etc. for your blogs and sites. And dont forget to read the readme.txt ;)

Yup, Ramnath rightly says webtips is all about discovering the hidden resources and sharing them. What do you have to share with us?
